The World Federation’s External Tableegh Department expresses profound appreciation to the Imam Hasan Centre for their generosity in contributing AUD 8,000 towards the Thursday Meal Programs for Shia Community members in Kenya, spanning from June 2023 to May 2024.

Their donation has facilitated the conduction of Dua-e-Kumail recitations, Majalis of Imam Husayn (a) during Aayam-e-Aza, Khushali Programs during the birth anniversaries of the Aaimah (a) and communal prayers across various centres in Kenya through our partner organisation Caring Is Sharing.

Thursday Meals Program

Caring Is Sharing (CIS) organisation identified 10 centres for the Thursday Meals Program. These centres are:

Ejinja Cente
Stenjimawe Centre
Masjid Noor
Masjid Kapty (Lakeview)
Bilal Centre
Husseinia Bondeni
Masjid Bibi Khadija (sa)
Masjid Malakisi / Changara Madrassa
Masjid Zahra

Based on the initial proposal, the Thursday Programs were originally planned to occur weekly. However, following community assessment and feedback, CIS made the decision to conduct these programs once a month at 8 centres, and twice a month at Masjid Kapty (Lakeview) and Busia Mosque, given their Madrasah facilities and highest attendance rates. This adjustment aimed to ensure that a larger number of community members could benefit from these events.

In addition to Dua-e-Kumail recitations, the programs featured Majalis of Imam Husayn (a) during Aayam-e-Aza, Ziyarat recitations, Khushali Programs on the birth anniversaries of Aaimah (a), short speeches by Muballighs or guest speakers, and Jamaat Namaz, followed by a hearty meal for all attendees.

Financial Breakdown

From June until December 2023, we received 4 tranches of AUD 2,000 each, which has been utilised to sponsor the Thursday meals programs across 10 centres in Kenya. Please see the breakdown of the funds received and some of the receipts attached below:
