Journey to Africa’s highest peak
We are thrilled to share the incredible success of this year’s WF-AID Kili Climb, which took place from October 6th to October 12th, 2023. It was a monumental journey for our participants, who came together from various corners of the globe to make a difference. We are truly inspired by their determination and commitment to helping those in need.
Out of the ten climbers who embarked on this challenging expedition, an astonishing seven successfully reached the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa. This achievement stands as a testament to the strength, resilience, and teamwork of our dedicated climbers.
The journey began on October 6th when our climbers arrived at Kilimanjaro Airport. Over the course of their ascent, they stayed at the Horombo, Mandara, and Kibo huts, experiencing the awe-inspiring beauty of this natural wonder. On October 10th, they triumphantly stood at the Uhuru Peak, a staggering 5,895 meters above sea level, marking their accomplishment on the highest free-standing peak in Africa.
This climb was organized with a noble purpose—to raise funds for those in need. Our climbers exemplify the true spirit of charity, stepping out of their comfort zones to make a difference. Together, they have raised an impressive £17,889.11 so far, contributing to several vital initiatives:
