Al Asr Charitable Clinic provides medical services to those in need, 90% of its patients are students of Islamic science (Talabatuilm), who have left their own countries to study in the Najaf Hawza.

These students are often poor and have minimal income. Therefore, they can not afford to go to hospitals or private clinics. The problem has been exasperated by the Covid-19 pandemic and worsening economic situation in the student’s home countries.

The clinic is just a 10 minute walk away from the Shrine of Imam Ali (a). It is in the heart of the Willaiah Imam Ali neighborhood where many Hawza students and their families live.

Patients pay $1.25 USD to register for the clinic and then £7-10 per patient service. The clinic is open 3 days a week, serving between 600 and 750 patients. However, if the patient cannot afford to cover their fees due to complete poverty, the hospital will provide them with the consultation without cost.

The clinic has two doctors, which provide medical consultations to around 50 patients a day as well phone consultation service. The clinic provides free tests as prescribed by the doctors. including:

Thank you for your generous donation. Your funds were used to cover the salary of 8 staff for 10 months between July 2022 and April 2023. Your funds were also utilised to purchase vital laboratory items and medications for the clinic.

*The table above reflects the salaries paid every month between July 2022 and April 2023, with the exception of February 2023 onwards whereby the Pharmacist no longer worked. This decreased the total paid per month to $650, and allowed the funds remitted to last an additional month as it facilitated for the other staff’s salaries.
