Recently, Lebanon experienced a catastrophic explosion in its capital city of Beirut, leaving over 200 people dead, and over 5,000 people injured.
We have been in regular contact with our teams in Lebanon to ensure their safety and gain a better understanding of the medium to long term needs in the country. There were many fantastic organisations helping in the immediate aftermath and at WF-AID, we decided we would be adding more value in the recovery phase.
During the initial phase, we were in close contact with our teams, working to assess the needs and our subsequent intervention. We wanted to ensure we would be using your donations to make a valuable and necessary impact, not duplicating existing efforts.
In addition to losing family members, homes, and having to rebuild their lives, the country is also struggling with the coronavirus spreading through the country and economic uncertainty. The people of Lebanon need our help.
