aawa2023-pakistan

In Pakistan, the struggle for clean water is a heart-wrenching battle. Picture a land where people, families, and communities are yearning for something as basic as fresh water to quench their thirst and nourish their lives. Imagine the horror of floods crashing through, tearing homes apart, forcing families to flee, and leaving fields in ruin. It’s more than just a disaster – it’s a cruel blow that makes the water problem even darker.

But the anguish doesn’t end there. Floodwaters taint the precious water left behind, breeding illness and suffering. This relentless cycle of scarcity and excess is a vicious cycle that hits the vulnerable the hardest. It’s a constant struggle, a tale of tenacity against nature’s fury.

Hence, WF-AID has teamed up with local partners on the ground to provide clean and safe water. This goes beyond just drinking and cooking – it’s also about creating a hygienic environment through WASH projects.

Flowing Hope, Building Connections

in Baltistan

In the valleys of Baltistan, a vital pipeline project is being constructed, providing the gift of water from lofty mountains into the heart of the communities. With careful planning, WF-AID is laying down pipes and crafting substantial tanks, all to ensure a more abundant water supply. This transformative effort extends its reach across five villages – Dogoro, Doko, Bain, Thorgu, and Sabiri – promising to positively touch the lives of approximately v4,000 individuals each day.

The project will be providing clean water for drinking, sanitation, and domestic use while improving hygiene practices and overall community health. It will benefit vulnerable groups, enhance livestock welfare, and promote sustainability. A designated team will maintain the system, and the objective will be to provide sustainable access to clean water for the people of Baltistan, improving their quality of life.

Pure Waters, Stronger Futures:

in Punjab

This year, a special R.O. Filtration Project is taking place in Punjab, with a heartfelt mission to tackle water scarcity in D.G. Khan, Rajanpur, and Rahimyar Khan. WF-AID is building 10 water filtration plants that use reverse osmosis – a smart way to clean water and make it safe to drink. Imagine, this project will help between 500 and 800 people every single day! By giving them clean water, WF-AID is also fighting against dangerous diseases like cholera. And that’s not all – submersible pumps will bring water to whole villages, bringing a ray of hope to those who need it the most.

Solar Pumps, Illuminating Lives:

in D. I. Khan District

In the heart of D.I. Khan district, WF-AID is bringing positive change. WF-AID is building 10 powerful solar submersible pumps, extending a helping hand to about 200 to 300 people. These solar pumps can produce a remarkable 7,000-8,000 litres of water daily, and even on cloudy days, they switch to electricity to ensure a steady flow of at least 5,000-6,000 litres per day. This endeavor carries the essence of hope, as WF-AID work together to uplift lives and shape a brighter future.

WF-AID is collaborating closely with local partners to bring about transformative change. These innovative pumps are expertly engineered to draw water from deep sources, establishing a resilient and enduring water source. With a core focus on enhancing health, promoting hygiene, and nurturing holistic well-being, this project stands as a beacon of positive impact.

Flow of Change, Creating Smiles:

in Attock, Chakwal

In the regions of Attock, Chakwal, WF-AID has embarked on a mission that blends compassion with action. Through the construction of 25 submersible hand pumps, a lifeline of clean water will weave its way into these communities in hard-rocky areas, where water otherwise is distant. With each pump strategically placed, the gift of drinkable water becomes effortlessly accessible, a symbol of care that speaks volumes. This initiative not only addresses the pressing challenge of water scarcity but also stands as a shield against unhygienic conditions, especially during the ongoing flood situation. A resolute stand for change, touching not just lives, but the future itself, as a profound impact ripples through, benefiting 1,000 individuals and beyond.

Harnessing the Sun to Quench Lives:

in District Tank

Solar Submersible Water Pump for District Tank project stands as a beacon of hope, poised to transform lives and communities. With unwavering objectives, it seeks to deliver reliable and sustainable water access to the people of District Tank. By harnessing solar energy to power a submersible pump, WF-AID is unlocking a consistent source of clean water from deep below the surface. This initiative breaks the chains of water scarcity and unreliable sources that have burdened these communities for far too long.

The positive impact will resonate deeply, benefiting around 2,000 to 2,500 individuals across three villages. Among them are the deserving poor, widows, orphans, and daily wage workers, who, due to financial limitations, have endured the lack of clean water. This project, once realized, will not only quench their bodies but also nourish their aspirations, health, and prospects, marking a true evolution in their quality of life.

Rising from the Waters, Restoring Hope:

in Shikarpur and Jacobabad

In the wake of the floods that shook Shikarpur and Jacobabad, Sindh, the project’s aim is nothing short of restoring life’s most vital essence – water! The mission is crystal clear: to bring clean water to the very heart of the affected villages. Through the installation of 25 strategically placed water pumps, each linked by pipelines to a central water source, WF-AID is threading hope back into the fabric of these communities. With beneficiaries ranging from the youngest children to the most senior and the cherished livestock, this endeavor seeks to erase the painful journeys residents currently endure for their water supply.

The ripple effect of this initiative promises not just immediate improvement in drinking, washing, and sanitation, but a lasting legacy of sustainability – a testament to human resilience, compassion, and progress.

Elevating Lives,

Ensuring Dignity

WF-AID has embarked on a vital mission in Pakistan, focusing on improved hygiene and sanitation through water provisions. The project is aimed at impoverished regions in Punjab and KPK provinces, where washrooms are scarce or in dire conditions. These areas lack sufficient facilities or have poorly maintained ones. With each constructed washroom benefiting about 10 to 15 people within a family, the aim is to establish 100 washrooms in these provinces.

Surveys and interviews have been meticulously to tailor solutions to each community’s needs. This effort not only addresses sanitation concerns, but also offers secure facilities for women and children, making a meaningful impact on the well-being of these districts.

Through the generous support of Stanmore Jafferys and their annual Sportive initiative for the Ali Asghar Water Appeal, a total of 8 washrooms will be funded towards this appeal by them.

WF-AID expresses heartfelt gratitude to Stanmore Jafferys for their consistent and unwavering support of the Ali Asghar Water Appeal. WF-AID is delighted to share that they will be channeling their efforts towards not only the Ali Asghar Water Appeal’s Washroom Project in Pakistan, but also the AAWA Gaza Appeal and two impactful projects in Africa as part of their 2023 sportive initiative. One of the ongoing projects fundraised for in 2022 is also set to complete this year, and has provided a solar powered R.O plant to over 2,000 locals in Mari City, Mianwali. Their dedication touches us deeply, and eagerly anticipate the positive transformations it can achieve together.

This isn’t just a story about water; it’s a story about hope, resilience, and the unbreakable spirit of the people of Pakistan. It’s about lending a hand, joining the fight, and ensuring that the tears of this land are transformed into the life-affirming elixir it so desperately craves.
