Water Projects
The Mohsin and Fauzia Jaffer Foundation are funding the following water projects:
Arusha Water Truck
In Tanzania, 16 million people lacks access to safe water, and 44 million people lack safely managed household sanitation. These challenges disproportionately affect those in poverty, particularly women and girls who often travel long distances to collect water. Access to safe water at home is critical. We are delighted to report the significant positive impact generated by the recent acquisition of a new water truck. This project has been a blessing for many, as it involves the regular supply of clean water to MitMoja School and five surrounding villages.

Borehole Well Repair and Hand Pump Installation in Uganda
This project will work to repair 30 borehole wells across three districts in Uganda by replacing spoiled parts such as pipes, valves, and cylinders. This will ensure they continue to run for years to come, providing water to thousands of local people every day. As well as this, 9 hand pumps will be installed across the three districts to supplement the existing water supplies and increasing the reach for families in need.
Sludge Drill Wells in Tanzania
The Mohsin and Fauzia Jaffer Foundation will be funding the construction 25 sludge drill wells in remote villages across Tanzania. These will provide access to clean and safe water to local community members. It also enables local people to focus their time, resources, and creativity towards a better life rather than spending long periods of time walking to fetch water. As well as local families, the beneficiaries will include the patients and staff at a hospital and teachers and students at a primary school.
Shallow Wells in Tanzania
Also in Tanzania, the foundation is funding the installation of 25 shallow wells in remote villages. These will be installed near public facilities such as schools, hospitals, mosques, and churches and each well will provide water for a minimum of 150 people, who would normally drink dirty water from ponds and other unsafe sources.
Walter Filtration Project in Afghanistan
In Herat, Afghanistan, the foundation is funding a water filtration project, which will provide clean and safe water to up to 16,000 people a day as well as 300 farmers, who will be able to irrigate their farms to prepare the land for growing crops and selling them to generate income.
